While taking a safety card from the plane does not actually cause a threat to the flight safety as there is always a good reserve of them on the plane and all seats are checked prior to next flight, I strongly suggest to get an OK from the crew. They are usually fascinated by such strange hobby and give you more than you expect. Remember that in the US there is a regulation saying that a plane can’t depart until all passengers have safety cards in their seats.
